Contributing to Animal Welfare Policy
Norwegian National Committee for the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes
I serve as a member of the Norwegian National Committee for the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes, an independent advisory body established in accordance with Article 49 of Directive 2010/63/EU. Appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the committee supports the development of high standards in animal welfare by advising competent authorities and animal-welfare bodies on issues related to the acquisition, breeding, housing, care, and use of animals in scientific procedures. We also work to facilitate the exchange of best practices at both the national and EU level. In this role, I contribute to policy discussions, provide expert recommendations, and support the ongoing evaluation and refinement of ethical standards in animal research. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority serves as the committee's secretariat.
NMBU Veterinary School Animal Welfare Forum
At the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), I participate in the Veterinary School's Animal Welfare Forum, an internal discussion group focused on promoting high standards of animal welfare in clinical and educational settings. The forum serves as a platform for faculty and students to raise and explore ethical and procedural questions related to animal care. In this context, I contribute my perspectives as part of broader conversations aimed at supporting ongoing improvements in welfare practices and communication within the academic environment.
NMBU Programme Council for Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programmes at the Faculty of Biosciences
At the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, I serve on the Programme Council for bachelor's and master's degree programmes at the Faculty of Biosciences. The council is an advisory body that provides academic advice to the Dean and the Vice Dean for Education on programme quality, curriculum development, and course coherence. In this role, I contribute to ongoing discussions aimed at maintaining high study quality and supporting the academic development of the faculty's educational programmes.
